Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme
Dogfather Applies For Listed Status With the Kennel Club *Updated - Now Approved!*

I'm registering our classes with the Kennel Club so that we can operate dog training under the Good Citizen Dog Scheme so that dog owners can gain recognition for their training as Puppy Foundation, Bronze, Silver and Gold awards.

The scheme aims to "promote responsible dog ownership and in turn, enhance our relationship with our pets and to make the community aware of the benefits associated with dog ownership". I'm all in favour of that, and so are our "Dogfather Disciples" at the current dog training classes. For more info, click on the Kennel Club link

In order for The Dogfather to run dog training and puppy training under the scheme, we need to be registered, which involves providing training experience references - in my case from a 30yr Working Trials judge - and also for the premises from a Dog Warden or Environmental Health Officer. I've now got these references in place and am applying to the KC, so watch this space.

Update July 2009 - The Dogfather is now a listed organisation with The Kennel Club to run Good Citizen Dog Scheme (GCDS) training. Please contact me for more details
