APPEAL: Please Save May (Loving Home Needed)
Update.. May has now been rehomed in Northants.

Update... May has now been rehomed. Thanks for your calls...

I heard a heart-breaking story the other day. Last week a vet in East Anglia was brought a lovely German Shepherd Dog (GSD) female called May and asked to put her to sleep. The vet checked May over and found that the six year old was just too healthy and too nice a dog to euthanise and so a friend of mine, a GSD breeder was called - 'Could she possibly take the dog on to save her life?' What can you say..? She is safe for now, but a forever home is desperately needed...

May is a lovely dog and deserves a nice life with someone who will love her and care for her, however her rescuer really can't keep her any longer - she has no room as it is and she has another girl with puppies on the way very soon. As a very experienced GSD breeder and trainer, my friend has checked her behaviour out. Here's her verdict, warts and all. (Please read to the end for my genuine offer to whoever saves May)

"May was 6 years old in Feb 09, fully vaccinated, spayed, she is a nice bitch and has been well looked after, very good with people.

I have put her under a bit of pressure to see how she would react (Meaning: Nothing abusive, but would have been a situation designed to see if she would 'turn nasty'. Dogfather), but she was as good a gold, she needs a good walk as she’s lively and gets excited when first going out and jumps up (but not too bad), walks well on the lead. I can only get her to eat tin dog food. She will give a small bark when she first sees another dogs then settles, I have run her with Spike and no problems, she will push in between Spike and me if I am petting him (Spike, incidentally, is a male GSD. Not my friends husband. Ahem. Dogfather).

She is good in the home but has now got big abandonment issues and has hurt herself making herself bleed to come to were you are, broken down very strong fence just to be with you will need either someone who is at home, with a very strong cage to leave her in when not at home.

I am very pleased my vet would not put her to sleep but she does need a home I can only spend about 20 min a day with her as my pup's are due with in the week. Thank you very much, May and I thank you"

So, on the face of it, May is good with people and OK with other dogs. Some separation anxiety issues that we can work with. If you've read this far, thank you: Let me make you an offer you can't refuse:

If you rehome May I will provide a two hour behaviour consultation at your home FREE OF CHARGE (Value min £60) within 20 miles of my home in Overstone (If you live further afield, I'll give my time for free if you pay my fuel costs)
