I'm on the National Executive of the GSD League Working Branch
Just when I thought I was old enough and wise enough (ugly enough?) to get involved with volunteering for things, I get caught out..

I went off to the Kennel Club building in Stoneleigh on Saturday for a meeting of the German Shepherd Dog League of GB's Working Branch

The GSDL Working Branch is the main governing body of all-breed Schutzhund sport in the UK. Schutzhund is a sport I compete in for working dogs such as GSD, Rottweiler and Doberman involving tracking, dog obedience and protection. It's very exacting and training standards are extremely high. (I'm the Head Trainer at Birmingham Schutzhund Club, incidentally. So no bias there, then...)

Now then... At my age, you'd think I'd have more sense than to volunteer for anything that involves work and no money - but apparently not.

The truth is I was very flattered to be asked by a number of people for whom I have a lot of respect if I'd stand for election onto the National Executive. I'm 'good with people', apparently. The rest, as they say, is history.

Vanity, friends, is a terrible thing..!
