I've worked in dog training with a few Great Danes over the years, of all different ages but only one size: BIG!
They're lovely dogs and I've usually found them to be gentle giants.
Being so big, they tend to have owners who take their responsibilities
very seriously and training for such lovely big animals is really
important. I've had Great Dane puppies along to the classes and have
worked with older dogs too on a one to one basis and always had great
results.
Typical Great Dane problems I see?
- Pulling on the lead and dragging people everywhere. They know how
to use weight to their advantage when lead
walking (!)
- Chewing and boredom-related problems.
- Being too friendly (If that's possible!) and scaring people who don't understand them. It's easy to teach them manners...
- Recall - Big legs cover a lot of ground very quickly!
The list's not exhaustive of course and these are just the ones that
spring to mind. Whatever the problem you have with a Great Dane, though, rest assured I know the breed well and I can help.

* Except Sandy Toksvig. She's a Great Dane, but not the kind I normally work with. (Great Dane dogs originated in Germany and not Denmark as most people would assume, funnily enough)
